We did not parish in a fiery plane crash as I feared.

We made it to Sin City in one piece.

The only thing I'm worried about now is dying from heat exhaustion.

The worst part of any trip for me is the packing process.

It's the night before we leave and I am totally unmotivated.

Sunday, July 27, 2008

Ed and Andrew brought over Riki-Oh.

Perhaps the most ridiculous movie I will ever see.

There was much applause and mouth covering involved.

If you see it, you'll understand why.

We celebrated D's 24th at Amici's, his favorite pizza place in the city.

His friends bought him a watermelon (racist), a beer and a comic book.

Sean Lennon showed up, obviously.

This was my sixth year participating in the SF AIDS Walk.

Always very fun and full of interesting characters.

These guys walked the entire six miles on stilts.

Some people gathered in Dolores Park for Nathan's 30th birthday.

In the three hours that I was there, I believe he was only around for about 10 minutes.

Strangely, no one seemed to mind much.

I think if you can get people to celebrate your birth without you even being there, it's pretty impressive.

I waited in a long line to see a showing of The Dark Knight on IMAX after work.

This is me and someone's ass.

For some reason, a large group of bears showed up.

I'm re-binding some old LIFE Magazines.

There are some hilarious advertisements in them.

This one claims that I should smoke Camels during and after meals to "speed up the flow of digestive juices".

Will do.

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

It was taco Tuesday at Park Chalet.

We had weak mar-gay's while Justin and D geeked out on Babylon 5.

And it was cold as shit.

Sunday, July 13, 2008

D's friend Vanessa has decided to leave SF and tonight was her last night in town.

We had drinks at Casanova Lounge while DJ Ethan spun Hall and Oates and the like.

Great time.

The North Beach neighborhood used to have an area called the International Settlement.

It was where all the n'er do wells hung out.

All that remains of it are two pillars that once held up a large International Settlement sign. I'm not sure why the city left them standing.

If you ever go out for Dim Sum, never order the Lotus Buns.

I went to the Gold Dust Lounge for happy hour.

The place is very "old" San Francisco.

And by old, I don't mean classic.

I mean stained seats, torn carpet and the stench of ancient cigarette smoke with a hint of vomit in the air.

The place is cool though, I like it.

This doll has been sitting by my back door for some time now.

I want it removed ASAP, but I'm not really sure what to do with it.

D turns it on periodically just to piss me off.

Sunday, July 6, 2008

For some reason I made my way to Merced again.

It is way too hot to be gallivanting around the central valley this time of year.

I was not at all surprised to see an abandoned fender in the driveway of D's brother's next door neighbor.

Friday, July 4, 2008

Nathan threw a 4th of July party at his place.

He provided lots of beer, illegal fireworks that scared me and a fake shark head - that is why his parties are the best and I love him.

Thursday, July 3, 2008

Had some awesome gents (and one lady) over for Bad Movie Night.

It's something my friends and I have been doing on occasion for the last couple years.

I had forgotten just how much fun it is.

Double feature:
Dolemite and Invasion USA

The expanse of my friends was too wide to get them all in the shot. Sorry Nathan!

Approaching 30 is strange for me.

It's a time of reflection and doubt and all sorts of mixed emotions about the state of things.

I'm sure it's that way for everyone to some extent.

I'm glad I can count on junk mail to ask life's hard questions and keep me on my toes.
