Some of the artwork in my therapist's waiting room is disturbing.

Way to be counterproductive to the mental health process!

Or maybe that's her diabolical plan?

Sunday, June 29, 2008

In the spirit of being slightly more organic about this whole thing, I will not necessarily post each day, nor will I limit myself to posting only once a day If I've got more than one picture that I feel deserves a few words.

I think it might be better this way?!

The highlight of the weekend for me (and I'm sure no one else) was the grand opening of the new Chipotle in Daly City.

I now have official pictorial evidence that I go out to eat too damn often.

Friday, June 27, 2008

D and I went to dinner at Farallon, a fancy seafood place off of Union Square.

I spent a small fortune but the food was amazing.

The decor was a little cartoonish, with giant lights in the shape of jellyfish and nets and what not strewn about, but I thought it was fun.

(iphone pictures in dimly lit spaces are sort of terrible).

Went to see David Sedaris read from his new book at Books Inc. on Van Ness.

This meant standing in line and then in a crowded room for a good two hours. Luckily Sedaris is so brilliantly funny that I didn't mind all that much.

The crowd was asked not to take photos so I could only snap a quick one of people's feet.

I finally saw Sex and the City.

It was long (which I didn't mind) and a tad sentimental, but I think that's the worst you could say about it.

There were a few d-bags at the show who obviously came just to make fun of the film. Usually I appreciate such things but not when there are only 10 people in a tiny theater.

I'm finding it increasingly difficult to stay motivated at work these days.

I don't think i'm alone in that feeling either.

That's my co-worker Phil, slumped in his chair at the desk in front of mine.

Either he is sleeping or has lost the will to hold his head up straight. Neither would surprise me.

Monday, June 23, 2008

The valley was beginning to fill up with smoke from a near by wild fire as we were leaving town.

I guess just about the whole state is burning at this point.

Sunday, June 22, 2008

Before heading to the movies, D and I stopped in to one of Ridgecrest's fine dining establishments.

D: There's something on my seat...like a bag or something

Me: What is it?

D: (Holds up bag) Is this weed??

Waiter: (Grabs bag) Ahh...it's marijuana. Is it yours?

D: No.

The waiter then laughed and walked away with bag.
Totally bizarre.

Saturday, June 21, 2008

Made the long trek to Ridgecrest again to see my parents and other visiting relatives.

The drive is absolutely tedious and after six years, I could do it with my eyes closed.

Friday, June 20, 2008

There are a lot of weird things around the office that remind me of the past.

I've spent a good portion of my adult life in this library.

I think leaving will feel very strange.

Not that it's happening tomorrow...but you know, eventually.

Members of Environment California, aka "the blue shirts" are everywhere on campus. They are a particularly aggressive bunch and generally disliked by all.

While on our way back from our morning break, my co-workers and I were discussing what method of avoidance would be used.

Unfortunately, the oft used buffer method, where in one makes sure there is at least one random person in between him or herself and the blue shirt while walking past could not be used because they had formed a tag team and there were too many of them.

Today I went to the grocery store.

There was some interesting business going on in the cereal isle.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

Shamefully, there is no picture today. That whole gay marriage thing is pretty awesome though.

Monday, June 16, 2008

I'm cat-sitting for three days.

Probably the easiest job ever.

Definitely the most enjoyable.

Sunday, June 15, 2008

I dropped D off at the Embarcadero Amtrak bus stop.

I tried to snap a few photos of the brilliant day while driving back home.

Kind of difficult to do while keeping my eyes on the road.

Saturday, June 14, 2008

D took me to see the San Jose Earthquakes play the LA Galaxy at the Oakland Coliseum.

During half time, little kids came out onto the field and started playing.

It was very cute and they were remarkably good.

Friday, June 13, 2008

Sadly, the neighbors I've been faithfully spying on for the better part of two years are moving.

As you can see, no one else across from me keeps their blinds open. For good reason, I guess.

Thursday, June 12, 2008

I love Dolores Park movie nights.

Just sitting in the park at night is fun for me.

Though, if you go expecting to actually be able to watch the film, you will be disappointed.

Wednesday, June 11, 2008

I happened upon a free pass to a movie screening at the Metreon.

I opted to eat dinner instead of standing in line for an hour and ended up at the back of the line and subsequently did not get into the screening.

It was a nice day so I walked around downtown instead.

Tuesday, June 10, 2008

Due to the fact that the amount of parking tickets I've received while parked along side SF State is now comfortably in the double digits, I will be taking the bus to and from work from now on.

I imagine it will be fine. It's generally a quick ride during summer when the bus isn't full of annoying school kids.

Sunday, June 8, 2008

She's Too Young is an excellent Lifetime TV movie.

Here, Dawn finds out that she has syphilis. This somehow comes as a surprise despite the fact that she has had 15-20 sexual partners (she can't remember an exact figure) and is only 14 years old.

Another well spent Sunday afternoon.

Saturday, June 7, 2008

I'm trying to eat well and keep in shape for my trip to Vegas next month.

When I'm not ordering Oreo milkshakes at Mel's, I'm definitely sticking to my plan.

Friday, June 6, 2008

I'm looking to get rid of some old furniture.

I'd prefer to sell it rather than give it away because it's sill in decent enough condition.

I think Craigslist is my best option. The good thing about selling furniture on CL is that it's easy because people will come over to get it - the downside, of course, is that people will come over.

Thursday, June 5, 2008

Met up with some friends at a wine bar after work.

I've been to this particular place twice and both times it was very crowded and very fun.

I wish I could do this every week.

Wednesday, June 4, 2008

My old office is officially a pile of rubble.

It's a little sad for me.

Change is good though. I think all this chaos will prompt me to finally get out of this place and do something I'm actually interested in.

Tuesday, June 3, 2008

I've moved into my new "office". It's not so much an office as it is a corner that I've been shoved into.

Note the circa 1975 phone.

As I type, there is a horrible noise coming from the floor above mine (i think). It sounds like a jack hammer.

I love that they've decided to dismantle the building with everyone still in it.

Monday, June 2, 2008

Everyone seemed unhappy at happy hour - at least at my table. Well, maybe not unhappy, but definitely tired.

The girls at the table next to us kept toasting to the Sex and the City movie. They would clink their glasses together and then say, "Sex and the City!" really loudly. It was absolutely ridiculous.

Sunday, June 1, 2008

I've been babysitting Theo for around a year and he is just about the cutest kid you'll ever meet.

He and his mom are moving to the east coast in a couple weeks, which means there is a very good chance that I won't be seeing him again for a long time, if ever.

Definitely a depressing thought for me.
